Chinese Medicine

One of our tour stops was to a Chinese medicine store / doctor's office.  First we had a little informational session.
The Chinese use their medicines mainly for prevention.  They prevent illness by staying active, many different activities in the park, smiling (especially women), taking Ginseng, and other herbal pills.  My favorite part was when he spoke about men's health.  There is no Viagra in China - they take all herbal medicines.  Back in ancient times when the Emperor had 3,000 concubines he had no Viagra and stayed 'healthy' by taking herbs.  Diagnosing problems is all about listening to your body - pulse, eyes, skin, finger nails, and hair.

After our informational session we had the option of getting a consultation from a Chinese doctor.  The doctor mainly feels the pulse of a person to determine their health and asks some questions.
He asked my age, if I have menstrual pain, stomach pain, if I'm low on energy, and if I'm married.  He was concerned about my uterus but from what the translator said there wasn't actually a problem with it.   That was about all for me.  Hopefully that means I'm healthy - from the Chinese stand point of course.
